President Uhuru has just changed it from Laptops to Condoms...See Here
President Uhuru Kenyatta has launched a campaign to scale up the fight against HIV/ AIDs among adolescents and kids.
This is after it emerged that deaths among adolescents and kids as a result of HIV/ AIDs were on the rise and worrying.
Speaking during the launch at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Uhuru promised to commit more funds towards fighting the scourge among children and adolescents.
The funds will be used to buy drugs for adolescents living with the virus, condoms for prevention purposes and sensitization.
“We can no longer afford to ignore the high rate of HIV infections among our adolescents. We need to work together to protect them. We need to address the issues that make teens vulnerable to HIV and AIDs. Those already living with the condition need treatment and support,” said Uhuru.
“Children and teens living with HIV and AIDs need maximum support and care from parents and teachers for them to live quality and happy lives,” he added.
This comes at a time when Uhuru/ Ruto’s Government has short-changed the Kenyan kids by denying them laptops as they promised and diverting the money to other pressing issues like buying condoms for them instead.
The campaign is however a global initiative and brings together Governments, UN organizations and civil society groups.
